Format fidelity matters

SRT and WebVTT are mostly cue-and-time formats, while ASS/SSA can carry richer styling, speakers and effects. The converter preserves metadata for same-format round trips and warns when the selected output cannot represent source features.

Why normalized cues?

Each source is parsed into a shared cue model before serialization. That keeps timestamps, Unicode and multiline text handling consistent rather than relying on pair-by-pair search-and-replace rules.

TXT intentionally drops timing

Sequence numbers and timestamps are omitted because plain text has no subtitle timing model. Use SRT, VTT, CSV or JSON when timing must remain.
