Format fidelity matters

SRT and WebVTT are mostly cue-and-time formats, while ASS/SSA can carry richer styling, speakers and effects. The converter preserves metadata for same-format round trips and warns when the selected output cannot represent source features.

Why normalized cues?

Each source is parsed into a shared cue model before serialization. That keeps timestamps, Unicode and multiline text handling consistent rather than relying on pair-by-pair search-and-replace rules.

WebVTT settings can be lossy

Identifiers, NOTE/STYLE/REGION blocks and cue settings are preserved in VTT same-format workflows. SRT cannot represent every VTT positioning feature, so loss is reported before download.
