Format fidelity matters

SRT and WebVTT are mostly cue-and-time formats, while ASS/SSA can carry richer styling, speakers and effects. The converter preserves metadata for same-format round trips and warns when the selected output cannot represent source features.

Why normalized cues?

Each source is parsed into a shared cue model before serialization. That keeps timestamps, Unicode and multiline text handling consistent rather than relying on pair-by-pair search-and-replace rules.

ASS styling is richer than SRT

ASS override tags such as {\i1} are converted to visible text for SRT instead of leaking raw formatting syntax into the result.
